Question by reptile-man: how can i tell the sex of my blue tongue lizard?

hi i have a blue tongue lizard he is 4 months old and i need a way to tell what sex he is .THANKS.

I assume you are talking about a blue tongue skink. It is extremely hard to sex adults let alone a 4 month old . You can go to www.bluetongueskinks.net and read their care guide for advice as well. You can sometimes tell the sex of a BTS by the size of their head, but being that your's is young and if you don't have a known male or female to compare it to, that won't work. Also when you have a male, sometimes you can see his hemipenes at the tailbase. You will probably not be able to see them on a young BTS. Also sometimes during excretement, you may catch the hemepenes but if you have a female, you won't see anything. Even people familiar w/ BTS have a very hard time determining the sex and usually can't until they are close or in adulthood. This isn't the answer I know you were looking for, but you're not going to be able to accurately sex your bts for several more months. For what reason do you even need to know the sex anyway?
